So what's wrong with Ferragomo Handbags, gallivanting through Europe on a whim, pedicures and expensive dinners out? This comparison you make between yourself and your sister makes me think that you are concerned you are not "grown-up" since you don't have kids and a 4-bedroom house and a minivan and a dining room table. Since when are all these things indications of adulthood? I have none of these things and consider myself an adult. I take responsibility for myself, my actions, my moods, my decisions. In my opinion responsibility makes one "grown-up" not minivans and dining room tables. Sure one could argue that having kids makes one responsible but that's not universally true. Best to say one *should* be responsible if one is going to have kids. But regardless, you don't need kids to be "grown-up" and responsible. Wendchymes, what do you really need from your life?

I don't have any decent advice for you, but i do know that you mustn't think you've somehow run out of time for your plans of family. christ, i do believe you're younger than me, you have lots of time. Maybe my only advice is not to obsess over the dreams that haven't come true yet, and live your life, and enjoy all that you have. if it's that important to you to have children, you will. such sad thoughts, but so wonderfully expressed.

That is a beautiful picture. I can't imagine people having children and leaving wonderful adventures like the one you had that Autumn day for someone else to share with their flesh and blood. Maybe, in a way, you are the luckier one. Imagine the big empty spots the parents will have in their memories of these childhoods, as they were too busy working or travelling or whatever they do to fill up their time instead of spending it with their babies. phooey. Obviously, when you have your own children (and you will), you'll not do the same.

Hi Wendy. Thank you so much for all the beautiful birthday wishes. I think you are a wonderful woman. I have been through periods feeling just as lonely. It's going to be OK. And yes, I would still love to sit and drink cosmopolitans with you. Just tell me when.
